Performance > Eligible for Tax Credits and ENERGY STAR® Qualified

Natural Light designed an Energy Conservation Kit that improves the U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain of our residential tubular skylights such that they are ENERGY STAR qualified in all 50 states and eligible for 10% federal tax credit.Natural Light Tubular Skylights Are Highly Energy Efficient
Committed to achieving superior performance in our products and energy savings for our customers, Natural Light has developed a new state-of-the art Energy Conservation Kit for the 10", 13" and 18" residential tubular skylight models. The Energy Conservation Kit incorporates 3 thin clear polycarbonate layers installed in the lower end of the light pipe.
Residential Models Qualify for Federal Tax Credits
The addition of polycarbonate layers improve the U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient such that the residential skylights are ENERGY STAR® qualified in all climate zones and are eligible for 10% federal tax credit as defined in the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010. In order to qualify, the unit must be placed in service in 2011 on an existing residential home - new construction and rentals do not qualify. The 10% tax credit (up to a $500 lifetime limit) applies to the cost of the unit and not applicable to the installation cost.
Natural Light Tubular Skylight Energy Performance Ratings:
U-Factor measures the rate of heat transfer and tells you how well the skylight insulates. U-factor values generally range from 0.20 to 1.25 and are measured in Btu/h ft2 °F. The lower the U-factor, the better the skylight insulates. Natural Light's U-Factor is 0.26.Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) measures the fraction of solar energy transmitted and tells you how well the product blocks heat caused by sunlight. SHGC is measured on a scale of 0 to 1; values typically range from 0.20 to 0.80. The lower the SHGC, the less solar heat the skylight transmits. The Solar Heat Gain for Natural Light is 0.23.
